  2. Hello Everyone, I am Madan (maddy) from Amsterdam, Netherlands. I am an aspiring travel and landscape photographer. I love travel and landscape photography for two main reasons, 1. makes me travel to different places and meet new people, learn new culture and eat local food and 2. It makes me connect with nature, makes me observe all the minute details that are ever changing around us and makes me realise how lucky I am to see such beautiful views. I live in a country well known for its windmills and hence I want to share with you a fantastic sunset scene from the world famous Zaanse Schans - Windmill Village of Netherlands. Comments and feedback are welcome and if you like my work please tip me: AZpTfcSWcJDdd4hwrbzdCTsgZD9B84FFWd I plan to use any donation that I receive to upgrade my current gear so that I can make more beautiful pictures Thanks & Regards, Maddy
  3. Adolphe Valette | Urban landscapes of Manchester Pierre Adolphe Valette (1876-1942) was a French Impressionist painter. His most acclaimed paintings are urban landscapes of Manchester, now in the collection of Manchester Art Gallery. Today, he is chiefly remembered as L. S. Lowry's tutor. Born in St Etienne in 1876, he trained at the Ecole Municipale de Beaux-Arts et des Arts Decoratifs in Bordeaux. Valette arrived in England for unknown reasons in 1904 and studied at the Birkbeck Institute, now part of the University of London. In 1905 he travelled to the North West of England where he designed greetings cards and calendars for a Manchester printing company. He attended evening classes at Manchester Municipal School of Art and in 1907 he was invited to join the staff as a teacher. His French teaching style, painting by demonstration, was new to the United Kingdom. Lowry expressed great admiration for Valette, who taught him new techniques and showed him the potential of the urban landscape as a subject. He called him "a real teacher … a dedicated teacher". Lowry added: "I cannot over-estimate the effect on me of the coming into this drab city of Adolphe Valette, full of French impressionists, aware of everything that was going on in Paris". In 1920 Valette resigned from the Institute owing to ill health. He stayed in Lancashire for eight more years, teaching privately and painting in Manchester and Bolton. In 1928 he returned to Paris, and subsequently moved to Blacé en Beaujolais where he died in 1942. Valette's paintings are Impressionist, a style that suited the damp fogginess of Manchester. Manchester Art Gallery has a room devoted to him, where the viewer may compare some of his paintings with some of Lowry's, and judge to what extent Lowry's own style was influenced by him and by French Impressionism generally. The Lowry hosted an exhibition of about 100 works by Valette alongside works by his pupil L. S. Lowry between October 2011 and January 2012. It included paintings of Manchester from Manchester Art Gallery and loans from private owners. FOR MORE SUCH ARTWORKS & ARTISTS' FOLLOW SUJITH PUTHRAN

  5. Hiroshi Yoshida | Landscape painter / printmaker Hiroshi Yoshida / 吉田 博 (September 19, 1876 - April 5, 1950) was a 20th-century Japanese painter and woodblock printmaker. He is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the shin-hanga style, and is noted especially for his excellent landscape prints. Yoshida travelled widely, and was particularly known for his images of non-Japanese subjects done in traditional Japanese woodblock style, including the Taj Mahal, the Swiss Alps, the Grand Canyon, and other National Parks in the United States. Biography Hiroshi Yoshida (born Hiroshi Ueda) was born in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka, in Kyushu, on September 19, 1876. He showed an early aptitude for art fostered by his adoptive father, a teacher of painting in the public schools. At age 19 he was sent to Kyoto to study under Tamura Shoryu, a well known teacher of western style painting. He then studied under Koyama Shotaro, in Tokyo, for another three years. In 1899, Yoshida had his first American exhibition at Detroit Museum of Art (now Detroit Institute of Art). He then traveled to Boston, Washington, D.C., Providence and Europe. In 1920, Yoshida presented his first woodcut at the Watanabe Print Workshop, organized by Watanabe Shōzaburō (1885-1962), publisher and advocate of the shin-hanga movement. However, Yoshida's collaboration with Watanabe was short partly due to Watanabe's shop burning down because of the Great Kanto earthquake on September 1, 1923. In 1925, he hired a group of professional carvers and printers, and established his own studio. Prints were made under his close supervision. Yoshida combined the ukiyo-e collaborative system with the sōsaku-hanga principle of "artist's prints", and formed a third school, separating himself from the shin-hanga and sōsaku-hanga movement. The Yoshida family legacy The artistic lineage of the Yoshida family of eight artists: Kasaburo Yoshida (1861-1894), whose wife Rui Yoshida was an artist; their daughter Fujio Yoshida (1887-1987); Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950), their adopted son, who married Fujio; Tōshi Yoshida (1911-1995), Hiroshi's son, whose wife Kiso Yoshida (1919-2005) was an artist; Hodaka Yoshida (1926-1995), another of Hiroshi's sons, whose wife Chizuko Yoshida (b. 1924) and daughter Ayomi Yoshida (b. 1958) are artists. This group, four men and four women spanning four generations, provides an interesting perspective in looking at Japanese history and art development in the turbulent 20th Century. Although they inherit the same tradition, the Yoshida family artists work in different styles with different sensibilities. Toshi Yoshida and the Yoshida family have used the original Hiroshi Yoshida woodblocks to create later versions, including posthumous, of Hiroshi Yoshida prints. Prints created under Hiroshi Yoshida's management with special care have a jizuri seal kanji stamp. The Hiroshi Yoshida signatures vary depending on the agents and time of creation. Hiroshi Yoshida prints sold originally in the Japanese market will not have a pencil signature or title in English. FOR MORE SUCH ARTISTS AND ARTWORKS FOLLOW SUJITH PUTHRAN

  10. Hello! I am very new to Artbytes. I have been sharing some of my work on the subreddit Artstore and received 60 artbytes and now I am trying to figure out how to use them ;-) About Me: I was a wedding and portrait photographer in KY for over 10 years. Then we sold everything and moved to Mexico with our four kids. Youngest was 5 months. We have been here for four years and we love it. Life is much slower, living is cheap, food is great, people are friendly, and the country is beautiful. I write about it and share my photos on my blog www.gringoslocos6.com About My Work: My husband is disabled because of a brain injury. That's how we reside in Mexico. I am trying to supplement that income for travel and emergency expenses by selling my photography on Etsy. Nothing sold so far.... I am not sure how to proceed. Any ideas are appreciated... but please be nice ;-) My first question for this forum is how to upload my profile picture? Max file size is 0.049mb? That doesn't seem right... If it is correct can someone tell me a simple way to make that happen? I have never had a request for a profile pic that small! Hahaha! Looking forward to hearing from you'all :-) Signing off in Mexico, Tina Artbyte Wallet: AX9RrGyjZRK7ZFJZpmEN2vR9RZzQc4qSKA
