  1. I'm rather fond of the Dutch masters, being a Dutchman myself. It's a cliché choice but Vincent van Gogh will always have a special place in my heart.
  2. Author intro

Hello, James! Welcome to the ArtByte community. It's cool to see a writer here, though I have trouble with horror stories (basically, I'm a scaredy-cat). Even so, be sure to post some of your work in the artist listing subforum to make it official!
  3. Didn't Make The Cut

This is a good idea, but I always end up thinking too big and end up having to give up due to the sheer scale of my idea or hire a team (which I don't have the finances for).
  4. Didn't Make The Cut

The life of a freelance artist can be pretty tough - even getting people to take you seriously and agree to let you do paid work can be a huge hurdle. But it's not the companies and projects that never respond that really bring me down, but the ones that I almost get to be part of, only to find that I just barely wasn't good enough. I've had projects where they were interviewing several artists, and I was interviewed, but in the end, they went with a different artist. That kind of dismissal really stings - you get so close to finding something that'll help you pay the bills, only to find that you missed it by a hair. How do you guys deal with rejections from jobs and projects like that? Where you were so sure you could be a part of it and get some paid work, but then it turns out you were wrong?
  5. Hello Art Byters

Hey, Ray! Welcome to the ArtByte community, it's good to see you. I see you've made your portfolio on Weebly, just like me. Remember to also share your work in an artist listing post.
  6. 'Jelly Jellies' Mobile Game

Hey everyone! A huge project I've been working on for over a year has finally been revealed to the public. It's called Jelly Jellies, and I'm the team's animator. Jelly Jellies is a mobile game in the match 3 genre, but it surpasses the competition with better visuals, better story and most importantly, unique features. I'm so excited to finally show you the reveal trailer: Jelly Jellies Reveal Trailer Please let me know what you think. Do the characters and atmosphere appeal to you?
  7. 'Jelly Jellies' Mobile Game

Once it releases in June, you can try it on your phone for free. I think you might just change your mind if you give it a chance! Hey, thanks! I'm really looking forward to the big release.
  8. Attachment limits

Yeah, it's easiest to link to images on other domains. I understand you might want more options from an art oriented community, but maybe that's something to think about for the future. Allowing unlimited image posting would really strain the servers, you know!
  9. Intro 2

Welcome to the community, Trimmertop! Don't forget to also put your wallet address in your profile.
  10. Very beautiful work! The way that first piece fades out near the edges gives it such an ethereal, dreamlike feeling. But those black and white pieces are also all masterful; the wave of bricks and the hill cut like bread, it manages to say so much just by showing us every day sights in a different light.
  11. I think there is a strong relationship between immersion and realism. A world doesn't need to reflect reality entirely, but it certainly needs a similar authenticity. I've seen a lot of Second Life avatars that follow that line of thought, but I've also seen my share of people using the image of popular characters or just bizarre appearances.
  12. I'm here

Hey there, TwistedCheshire! Welcome to the ArtByte community. If you feel up to it, please share your watercolor work in an artist listing post. I'd love to see it!
  13. Hello from a Virtual World Explorer!

Hey, Strawberry! Welcome to the ArtByte community, it's great to have you here. I think there's a very promising future in ArtByte - Second Life cooperation. I can't wait to see more work from you in the future!
  14. Stages of Human Life

Hey, thank you! It makes me happy my vector art impresses you! I've found that working with vectors is a huge help for clients that need stuff printed, but it's a lot of work to get that same organic look my drawings have.
  15. Stages of Human Life

Hey, everyone. I recently got commissioned to create 8 vector characters for a card game - each of them had to represent one of the stages of human life, starting from baby and going all the way up to elder. I've added the illustration to the projects page on my website, please check it out and tell me which are your favorites: http://www.arjendehaan.com/games--projects.html
  16. Rakuen

I recently played an adventure/puzzle game called Rakuen and it really touched my heart. It's about a boy who has to stay at a hospital, but his mother comes to visit him and leads him to a magical world using a storybook. The creator is Laura Shigihara, who did music for Plants vs. Zombies and To the Moon. I particularly loved the music: The game is on sale on Steam right now, so I'd give it a look: https://store.steampowered.com/app/559210/Rakuen/ You won't be disappointed!
  17. Setas Acuarelas

The image in your first post looks broken, which is a shame, because the project sounds interesting. The best way to share images is by just posting an external link.
  18. Chameleon Logo Design

Ooh, I really like the chameleon logo. Well done! Red and green is a pretty unorthodox combination for designs (with the exception of Christmas cards).
  19. New Three-Dimensional Murals by Peeta

I do really love it when artists use architecture and the environment as a canvas like that! I really identify with Manuel's way of thinking - about changing the way we view space, and thus, reality.
  20. Hello World!

Hey, Rodrigo, welcome to the ArtByte forum! Your work looks amazing! Remember to make a post with your work in the appropriate artist listing subforum to make it official.
  21. Rakuen

No, it's only on Steam and I don't think that's going to change; it's a very niche game, after all.
  22. Rakuen

No kidding! I think Deus Ex is one of those games where you hardly "notice" the music, but when it's gone, the game loses all atmosphere. Rakuen, though, is a game where music is more on the forefront of the game and storytelling. Some of the puzzles even rely on sound or music. Yeah, no problem! Like I said, it's on sale on Steam, so you can get it at a low price now. Don't miss your chance.
  23. Giuseppe Muscio | Hyperrealist Painter

Hyperrealism is always so amazing to me - how an artist can make a picture so perfect it looks like a photograph. Thanks for sharing, this is some really beautiful stuff!
  24. A hello

Hey, Isabelle! Welcome to the ArtByte community. Great to see a person with passion for filming - remember to make a post in the artist listing subforum so we can see some of your work.
  25. Portrait of a young woman

Very beautiful work! Is this based on a real model, or drawn entirely from scratch?
